About Us

FRIDA stands for Food, Reading, Innovation, Diversity and Art. FRIDA is named after one of the most influential female artists of all time: Frida Kahlo. FRIDA is an International Book Café in Enschede, The Netherlands, and an officially registered non-profit foundation. 

Our Supervisory Board (Raad van Toezicht) consists of Jeannette Lodeweges, Lia Katalanc and Jidde Mulder. 

Our Supervisory Board meets at least four times a year. Gemma Boon is our founder and director/board. You can find our official documents here: (will be added A.S.A.P.) The FRIDA Foundation. 

Stichting FRIDA adheres to the Governance Code for Culture by prioritizing accountability, integrity, effective leadership, and diversity. It ensures transparency in communication and financial reporting, maintains ethical decision-making processes, appoints qualified leaders, and promotes diversity and inclusion within its organization.
